Autism, Also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Is a developmental disorder that affects how a person perceives, interacts with, and communicates with the world around them.

Children are not things to be molded but are people to be unfolded.

It is referred to as a «spectrum» because it manifests in a variety of forms and degrees of severity.

Key characteristics of the disorder include:

  1. Social communication difficulties: Individuals with autism may struggle to understand social cues, initiate or maintain conversations, and form relationships.

  2. Repetitive behaviors: Many individuals with autism exhibit repetitive behaviors, such as hand movements, rocking, or strict routines.

  • Restricted interests: Individuals with autism often focus intensely on a narrow set of interests or activities.

  • Sensory sensitivities: Many people with autism experience heightened or reduced sensitivity to sensory inputs like sounds, lights, textures, or smells.

Importance of Early Intervention in Autism

Early intervention is crucial for supporting individuals with autism, with therapies such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), speech therapy, and occupational therapy helping to develop skills and manage challenges.
